1st page in Ocean Art Journal

The 1st page of my Ocean Art Journal is coming along. I used lots of paint for the background. I added strips of book pages to give some layers. I kept adding gesso to blend the colors. To create the shore I used sea shell and starfish stamp, and added some real shells I have collected over the years.  Also used a wave stamp to add dimension for the ocean. I still want to create better edging but this is a good 1st page.

This quote came to me while I was working on the page and right now a process I am using a lot to get through work.

Lots to be thankful for this week and the top 5:

Challenging myself more

 

 There is a lot of things that I want to learn and do. Being part of a wonderful art group has helped to push me in that direction. I belong to Paper Traders. This is a art journal we are doing with the group. We are given a monthly word prompt to create with. This is my Follow Your Heart for February.

 

This was a magazine collage swap with the group. I love to create and use new techniques. To make the shoreline and cliff. I used many magazine pages. Cut the pictures into slices and then reassembled them to create the page.

 

This was another swap to take an old photo and create "oddball Ancestors". I used stamped butterfly wings and embelished them with lots of stickle. The hat was from an stamp with the mad hatter. It was fun to think outside the normal way of using stamps. I created the background blending the background with paint and alcohol ink.

I want to create more, this was fun.

First thing Monday

A gesso experience. It adds such great texturing. This is a card flyer (junk mail) I  had saved for experimenting with. So I covered the card with white paint and then added gesso. It was interesting to play with it and make the texture. After it dried, I added paint and water to get the different colors.

Could not help my self and created another simple scene with scraps. I loved making the little flowers. My favorite is the lavendar rolled rose flower. The momma bird feeding her chicks was just too fun to add. A monday morning in nature is busy too. Have a great week!

More pieces

Just created some background pieces. Then wanted to create some unique parts to each. Not sure what I will do with these but I will keep to just have around. Still learning how to make pieces unique.

Cover Page 2011

This is the cover of my first book from last year. I took a class and had learned how to do a transfer. I like how the panda turned out but a more faded then I wanted. Have to practice on that.

Late last night I finished with my cover page for the new year.

 

This year's cover I wanted to try several things. I drew the panda instead of using a image. I had gotten some Metallic Blue Sapphire paint and tried it out...  fun, a little different. I am still learning about my art. Very fundamental. I know I am not following the ideas for collage or painting but I am still finding my way so this year will be a fun year to see what happens.
