Beach and Birthday Weekend

What a weekend. We took a family camping trip to the ocean. It rained for part of a day but the rest of the time it was wonderful. I love the ocean and spending time with the family so it was a great weekend.

We did this trip for my younger daughter's birthday and this is one of her cards I made. She loves cupcakes and her favorite color is blue so this is all for her.

I am having fun creating banners on cards. This time I used ribbon to hold the letters. For the card deck, I used this cool paper that was embossed and had lots of texture. Then the cupcake is a punch that is very easy to create all kinds of styles.  This time for the bottom, I used sparkle paper.

Had so much fun this weekend, and I am truly thankful for the top five this week:

1. Ocean waves
2. Family fun days
3. Warm fires
4. Cooler days
5. Finding new places to Paddle Board!!

Have a wonderful week, Amanda

Winter blue

Another swap item. This is my take on a "WINTER" banner. I love the font for this it reminded me of snowballs. I added glitter paper snowflakes and edged the circles with the micro fine glass beads.

Then on the top of each letter is a row of flower edge with gesso, topped with ribbon and jewels. Each letter is tied together with more ribbon. The W and the R have added ribbon, snowflakes, and snowballs on the bottom edge. I had shown the backs of the letters on this post here  All done and ready to send.

TGIF

I am so glad that it is Friday. A busy week and lots going on this time of year so I am ready for some weekend time. This week, I did get to sneak in a little painting. This was really for my daughter's project, she wanted a painting of rain on the ocean. I really like how the ocean gets darker when it rains and I tried to capture that. For the wave white caps, I added lines of gesso. For the rain, I flicked blue from my brush. I still want to learn perspective and shading better but having fun.

Begin

I love creating background. I pick colors and I then when I put the paint on the brush, it seems to take a whole different dimension. Then as I swipe the brush on the paper, the color seems to take form. The shades create thoughts in my mind. In the blue I see ocean waves, blue summer skies, and fields of blue flowers.  On the base, I added in the gold. It is sand on a warm summer beach, wind through the forest, or dirt road leading off to some new adventure.  There is so much beauty in the outdoors.  This week's theme at Inspiration Avenue is "What inspires you?" I guess mine is the beauty of nature..  I will have fun with this one.
