Moving Forward

This is my first page in my new Art Journal. It comes from the Word Prompt Challenge at Paper Traders for January; Live Simply. I see that I like strong distraction. There are several layers with this page. First the water colored background, then gesso bubble wrap, then scraps of paper, stamped boarder and bees. Added the stamped butterfly with the wire antenna. I cheated on my lettering as the LIVE is cutouts and Simply is stamped. I need to practice more so that I get comfortable with my own. Also need to keep it more simple, funny that is the concept of this page. Well moving forward, no mistakes just opportunities to grow. Have a great week!

Moody Monday

I am better on a Moody Monday when I know there will be some fun. Tonight I hope to have friends over to make some of these fun gift tags. It is created using VersaMark ink and chalk. I like the soft image it creates. Then to add a little bling added the small jewels. I hope to make a few different ones and will upload those later.

Moody Monday

This Monday is not so moody for me.. I am staying home, took the day off. Plans are simple.. spend time on home stuff, bills, and work stuff. I then get to play! I want to work on some Christmas cards. And maybe a few more of these little cards. They are ones I give out with orders. Good things to have on hand.

A small little card, only 3 x 4. This one uses two sided paper. The stem is each side of the same paper. The card deck is created with a dry emboss polka dot. The flower center is a large brad.

This card has the same embossing technique for the card deck. The little flowers have jewels for the center. Also used punches, one for the postage stamp thank you and then the background label.

Moody Monday

I can't be too grumpy about work because I work with some wonderful people. When we were working on those projects to fund raise money for some local charities, we were all talking about art. What a great way to get through the day, right. Then one of the ladies talked about some items that had been her Mother and Aunt's and asked if I would be interested in them. This sewing box was one of the items. It is so cool, I love it. There are some other things that she gave me that I will show later. I feel very lucky to have gotten such a beautiful piece.

Moody Monday

What a day! This was so much fun. My daughter and I went to a concert at a local park. It is a traditional event but this year it was also a tribute and dedication to all those effected by the 911 tragedy. There was lots of good music, positive thoughts for our country, and support for all that has happened. It may be moody Monday but today I still have so many good memories from yesterday that I expect that it will get me through today and many days in the future. Wishing all a wonderful week!

Moody Monday

Happy Labor Day for those in the States. I plan to take a hike and hope to find lots of inspiration. I still have projects that I want to create but need some outdoor time. Maybe I will have some sketches to upload later. Wishing everyone a great day.

Moody Monday

Cards for friends and a package I am making for a fundraiser. Ever year the State has a Employee Charitable Contribution Campaign and this year my department wants to have a silent auction craft fair to raise money. So I am putting together a package of homemade cards. It won't get much but every dollar counts. I am a little behind, package has to be ready by Wednesday!! UGH...

Moody Monday

A busy weekend, I enjoyed all that I was able to work on. Now it is back to the work world and I still wish I could get more done. But this card is one finished project. The tree was made with the cricut. I tried creating layers by cutting different sizes. Using vellum for the label, gives a softer touch.
Wishing all a good week.

Moody Monday

Yep it is Monday again... I did have a creative weekend and that always makes the week following a little easier. I finished this ATC. I appreciated the support comments about letting it sit. I am still learning but this worked out. Added the stamped dragonfly and then wanted something else and these words were rambling around in my brain so I added it to the card. Under the word Love, I added a heart made from tissue paper. Then added the black pigment ink to the edge. NTS, pigment takes time to dry so don't pick up the card and then a white piece of paper. For awhile, I could not figure out where all the black smudges were coming from! Haha..

P.S. I added this to a WTA swap on a great yahoo group Paper Traders.

Wishing all a great week!

Moody Monday

Well Monday Monday..  my day of days.  But this week has much in store. Going to an after-work party, very busy work week, but ending the week by taking a dear friend out after work for her birthday. I created this card for her. I love Leo Buscaglia and this statement just adds the perfect touch to the card. "A single rose can be my garden... A single friend, my world" I am looking forward to our day and glad that I have her card.

Moody Monday

Yep it is monday again and I am thankful for all I have and what I am able to do. I find so much enjoyment in making cards and it will be something that I will want to do for a long time. I know I get grumpy about work but I will keep thinking of other options.. This simple card was easy to put together for my daughter to give.

Wishing all a good week.

Moody Monday

For me Mondays can be one of the toughest days of the week. I cope by having some items at work to remind me of the important aspects of life. I have pictures of my family on my desk. I have pictures of my peaceful place, the Carmel Mission. I decided to created one more item for my office. The jar is a recycled Starbuck's frappicino drink. I have put some shells and rocks from my collection and I will be filling the rest with the glass beach pieces that I have at work. I think this will be a good piece once it is full.

I had to make it a little less just a jar so first I colored the lid. Added some small shells and pieces to the top.

Moody Monday

Well I think that I am having a bird issue lately. Several of my creations have had a bird included. So I could not help but create this little guy. He came from my new machine. Yes I got a cricut machine. I am very excited for getting this machine. I have just begun to learn how to use it and it is a lot of fun. I hope to create lots of cards and paper images with it. Well for my moody Monday, I just had to create something. I wish my mood would fly but for now I just find this little bird too cute. And love my new machine.
